It can be daunting to think about teaching your young ones their letters. Relax 🙂 Kids learn so much through play and stories. There is no need to drill flashcards every day. Although flashcards do have a purpose, especially in play. Oh, the anticipation! Hattie tries to express her concern about something hiding in the bushes, but the other barnyard animals don’t seem to be taking her seriously. This is one of my toddler’s favorite books. Hattie has become a true friend over the years.
2. Flossie and the Fox by Patricia C. McKissack
In this delightful picture book, Flossie embarks on a mission to deliver a basket of eggs, only to encounter a clever fox known for his egg-stealing antics. However, Flossie is a bold and clever young girl.
3. Fox in Socks by Dr. Seuss
This beloved Dr. Seuss classic introduces children to prepositions, using rhyming text that twists your tongue a bit.
4. The Fox Went Out on a Chilly Night by Peter Spier
This book showcases stunning illustrations that accompany the American folk song. The vibrant artwork captures the fox’s moonlit quest for a meal. I like to play the song after reading it with my girls.

5. Boxes for Katje by Candace Fleming
Katje’s town of Olst in Holland is devastated after After World War II. One day, Katje receives a package from an American girl named Rosie from Mayfield, Indiana. Katje sends a thankful letter, igniting a beautiful friendship. This story is so inspiring and filled with important lessons. I do not feel that I do it justice in this small summary. This is a wonderful book.

6. Ox-Cart Man by Donald Hall
This is a wonderful picture book that follows the ox-cart man on his journey to sell his goods at the market and returns with his pockets full of coins. Then, the cycle begins again.
