This is a fun retelling of Jack and the Beanstalk, first published in England in 1807. Paul Galdone is one of my favorites for fables and fairy tales. This may not be the traditional tale you are familiar with but it’s closer to the original published text.

In this timeless children’s picture book, the author tells the story of his grandfather’s journey and life in America and Japan. His grandfather develops a love for his two countries.
J is for Jungle.
9. Jungle Night by Sandra Boynton
The story takes little readers on a journey through the jungle, where they listen to sleeping animals until they are all stirred awake by a loud snore in the middle of the night. Additionally, we adore the read-aloud and song performed by Yo-Yo Ma {HERE}.
J is for Jemima.
10. The Tale of Jemima Puddle Duck by Beatrix Potter
In this living book, Jemima Puddle-Duck only wants to lay and hatch her eggs but the farmer keeps taking her eggs. With the help of a deceptive fox, she finds a peaceful woodshed. This silly duck doesn’t realize the sly fox is planning a menu with roasted duck.
