Q is for Quilt.

1. The Quilt Maker’s Gift by Jeff Brumbeau

In this picture book, a humble quilt maker pieces together beautiful quilts and gifts them to the poor. The patches on her last gifted quilt hold memories of a glorious story of riches to rags. I love the book’s colorful illustrations. This book is a bit longer than the typical picture book.

2. The Quilt Story By Tony Johnston

In this charming picture book, a young girl stumbles upon a cherished patchwork quilt tucked away in her attic. A long time ago, this quilt belonged to a little girl named Abigail. It serves as a source of warmth and comfort for two generations.

This inspirational picture book is about a grandmother who sews a patchwork quilt made from scraps of her family’s old clothes. The quilt is beautifully crafted as the value of family is woven throughout this multigenerational story.

4. The Corgi and the Queen by Caroline L. Perry

This delightful story is a perfect way to introduce people of all ages to the popular historical figure, Queen Elizabeth. It tells of her beloved corgi companions.

5. Paddington at the Palace by Michael Bond

The beloved Paddington visits Buckingham Palace to watch the Changing of the Guard and perhaps catch a glimpse of the queen. However, he struggles to see anything until he unexpectedly receives assistance. With the flag flying, indicating that the queen is present at the palace, could it be that she is the one who came to his aid?

In this beautiful story, Hector Fox and his band of merry friends travel north of the Green Wood to the Forbidden Marsh to discover if fairytale giants are real.

This sweet picture book is about a tiny cricket who tries to respond to all the insects he meets but he cannot make a sound. One day, he meets a female cricket and he finally makes a sound.

8. An Egg is Quiet by Dianna Hutts Aston

This beautifully illustrated book on nature showcases a variety of eggs, ranging from large ostrich eggs to slimy frog eggs. With over 60 types of eggs, young readers are introduced to a diverse array of nature’s wonders. CONTENT WARNING: Reference to millions of years.

9. Giggle, Giggle, Quack by Doreen Cronin

Farmer Brown leaves his brother Bob in charge of the farm but warns his brother to keep an eye on the duck.
