For the Bible Tells Me So Series Review: Christian Board Books

For the Bible Tells Me So Series Review. Board books are one of my favorite ways to introduce theological concepts and spark deeper conversations with my tiny theologians. I was so excited to review this series. This Christian board book series tackles theological concepts such as prayer, Scripture, provision, incarnation, and salvation. Every book is filled with colorful illustrations and simple text to help young kids grasp difficult concepts. The gospel is clearly presented! Every book ends with a fun lift-the-flap feature with a hidden mirror which is sure to be a big hit with small tots.
What moms need to know:
- Sound theology presented with age-appropriate language (0-3 years old)
- Repetitive text to help enforce biblical truths
- Fun interactive elements with a hidden mirror on the last page
- Cartoon illustration of Christ
My only feedback is quite minor. At times, the text lacks a smooth flow. There’s a mix of repetition and rhyming words that disrupt the reading rhythm a bit. However, the content is solid!
If you’re looking for Christian board books with sound theology, the “For the Bible Tells Me So” series would be a fantastic addition to board book collections in your home library, as gifts, or for church nurseries.

Series Review: For the Bible Tells Me So Series written by Kristen Wetherell and illustrated by Grace Habib
God Speaks to Me by Kristen Wetherell
In this precious board book, little readers are reminded that God speaks through every tree, sky, and bird, but most importantly, His words are fully known in the Bible. God’s Word is loud, clear, trustworthy, good, true, and sweet. Colorful illustrations captivate tiny readers, featuring playful onomatopoeias sprinkled throughout for added enjoyment, and a delightful lift-the-flap Bible reminds them that God speaks to them through His Word.
“Though storms may crash on sea or land, upon his word, we safely stand.” Kids are taught that Jesus is called the Word. “He is the truth about God’s grace. In him we’re saved and sin’s erased.”
God Cares for Me by Kristen Wetherell
“From the birds in the air to the fish in the sea, our God cares for them, and he cares for me.”
In this precious board book, tiny readers are reminded that God created them and all things. He spoke, and “the world come to be.” The repetitive text helps kids know that our heavenly Father cares for and provides for them. They can look to the cross and know the depths of God’s love for them. Young children will love the playful illustrations of animals and the fun lift-the-flip cloud with a hidden mirror that reminds them that “God is good, and he cares for [them].”
God Hears Me by Kristen Wetherell
“So with a big smile or even through tears, I talk to my God, and I know that he hears me!”
In this sweet board book, children are taught the importance of prayer through clear text, simple illustrations, and engaging prompts. They can pray to God through tears for comfort and praise him with hands raised because they know that our Heavenly Father cares for them. Kids are encouraged to share their questions, desires, and big emotions, trusting that God hears them. Regardless of where or when, they are assured that they can pray in Jesus’s name “’cause we pray through Jesus who prays for us all.”
“Our Father in heaven, we need you today.”
God Came Near to Me by Kristen Wetherell
“God’s Son has a body, and he came to me. And soon he’ll return in a way all can see!”
This board book explains the doctrine of incarnation and the redemptive power of Christ’s death on the cross. This is a deep theological concept, and the author does a great job introducing it in simple language. The interactive elements include labeling the human body and a fun lift-the-flap hidden mirror at the end.
“I’ll run to my King and bow down on one knee, and wonder at Jesus who near to me!’
God Rescues Me by Kristen Wetherell
“The gospel means good news of Jesus, God’s Son, the Savior of sinners who rules everyone. Because he’s our shepherd, our high priest, our king, our lamb, and our hero—to him our hearts sing!”
In this delightful board book, young children are introduced to the meanings of key theological terms such as gospel, sin, forgiveness, high priest, and shepherd. They learn that the gospel is the good news that Jesus saves. We are made for God’s glory, but we have sinned, “bringing death to our heart”. We cannot save ourselves, so King Jesus, God’s Son, was killed in our place. He defeated sin and death. Our risen King can make our hearts whole. The gospel message is conveyed clearly and engagingly for little ones. The repetitive text aids in counting and recalling, while a charming lift-the-flap heart containing a hidden mirror serves as a reminder that Jesus is their rescuer!
“Like a good shepherd, he knows all his sheep. He finds us and leads us. Our souls he will keep.”
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. The above are my thoughts and opinions.
