It can be daunting to think about teaching your young ones their letters. Relax 🙂 Kids learn so much through play and stories. There is no need to drill flashcards every day. Although flashcards do have a purpose, especially in play. 9. Ocean Meets Sky by The Fan Brothers
The illustrations in this book caught my attention. The stories of Finn’s grandfather about the place where the sea and sky meet inspire him to build a ship and sail to discover this magical place and honor his grandfather.
10. Secrets of the Seashore: A Shine-a-Light Book by Carron Brown
We love the “Shine-A-Light Book” series. It makes for a fun interactive book. Your kiddos will have fun searching for hidden ocean animals and aquatic life with a little flashlight. The text is simple and the illustrations are colorful.

This fantastic nonfiction book is filled with captivating facts and wildlife photography of sea otters. The language is simple and great for younger children and budding new readers.

To find his home, he needs help from his neighbors. This book is now out of print but it’s worth hunting for it at the local library or secondhand bookstore.

Every year Pa travels to Lansing to gather oranges for Christmas gifts for each family member. But the wintry weather makes it difficult for him to return and the family begins to worry. I love that the author writes from the inspiration of her childhood.
