3. Nature Craft Bees With Dandelions And Sticks
This is a quick invitation to create. And it made a lovely moment in the sunshine, exploring textures. gathering nature items, and arranging our nature finds into a cute honey bee. I cut a small circle from recycled cardboard to outline the bee’s body and to help my kids get started.
How to Make An Invitation to Create?
To make a simple Invitation to Create, gather a few supplies and lay them on the table. An Invitation to Create is not necessarily about the art product your child is making, it is about your child creating something beautiful and unique. And in this case, all was returned to nature or a compost pile.
4. Bumble Bee Bookmark For Kids With Watercolor Paints
This cute bumble bee craft was so fun and versatile. I cut a piece of watercolor paper into thirds to create three bookmarks. We used a recycled cap from a milk jug to stamp black circles for the bee’s body. I drew the rest using black paint to make a darker outline. Allowed it to dry and the kids painted the bees using their watercolors. I do not recommend using puffy paint if using for a bookmark, I fear that it might bleed onto your pages if the book was to get left in the sun.
5. Tissue Paper Bee Craft With Recycled Book Pages For Wings
This yellow and black tissue paper bee craft for kids was a fun way to use up old recycled tissue paper. I used all recycled materials including, black and yellow tissue paper, a circle cut from recycled cardboard, and a page from an old book. The only tool needed was a glue stick.
This fun craft was good for young children to strengthen their hands and fingers by tearing and to improve their dexterity by arranging the tiny pieces of tissue paper to make the bee’s stripes.
6. Toilet Paper Roll Bee Craft For Kids
Empty toilet rolls never leave our house until they have been created into something new. We have crafted many bumble bees from recycled toilet paper rolls. All you need is yellow construction paper for the bee’s body and face, black yarn for the bee’s black stripes, and googly eyes, recycled black bread ties, and white construction paper or old book pages for the bee’s wings. We cut a gold crown from an old Christmas ribbon and tiny pink construction hearts for rosy cheeks.
7. Bumble Bee Sun Catcher: Paper Plate Bee Craft
This easy bee sun catcher was made with a small paper plate, yellow tissue paper, black construction paper, blue and silver glitter, and contact paper.
Instructions to Make a Bee Sun Catcher:
- First, cut out the bee shape in the middle of the paper plate and press a piece of contact paper to cover the hole.
- Then, cut three stripes from black construction paper and press them into place.
- Next, tear small pieces of yellow tissue paper and press them into place.
- Finally, sprinkle glitter over the bee’s wings.
I added some fun details with a black marker and a piece of twine to hang in the window.
8. Bubblewrap Honeycomb Stamps
My kids love to paint, and we have made stamps out of almost everything. One of our packages came wrapped in bubble wrap, so we found a way to use it. I used non-toxic washable finger paint and gave each child a small square of bubble wrap. You could add letterings, quotes, or drawings. But my children are both toddlers, so we had fun just stamping. This would make a fun Valentine’s Day card with a lovely saying and pink hearts.

9. Mason Jar Ring Bee Sun Catcher
This bee craft was easy and my toddlers really enjoyed it. To make this craft all you need is yellow tissue paper, black yarn, a small piece of ribbon, a mason jar ring, contact paper, and a small piece of string.
Instructions For Mason Jar Ring Bee Sun Catcher:
- First, tie the ribbon onto the ring for the wings and secure a small piece of string to hang your sun catcher.
- Then, cut a small piece of contact paper to fill the hole in the jar lid. Place small dots of glue around the inside of the lid to secure the contact paper.
- Next, have your child arrange the black yarn and yellow tissue paper to resemble the body of a bee. Press the materials into the contact paper.
- Then, use liquid glue to secure the black yarn antennas and stinger to the jar ring.
10. Recycled Egg Carton Bees Craft For Kids
I love this little bumble bee. He was so fun to make. The little bumble bee is still on my mantel, looking all tossed and tumbled because my smallest child loves him greatly. All you need for this bee craft for kids is a cardboard egg carton, black yarn, yellow paint, construction paper for wings, a bread tie or pipe cleaner for antennas, and two googly eyes.
Instructions For Making An Egg Carton Bee: Bee Crafts For Kids:
- First, cut out two egg holders from a cardboard egg carton. Paint the egg cartons with bright yellow paint and allow them to dry.
- For this step, you may need to trim around the edges so the two pieces can be pressed together to make the bumble bee’s body. I secured the two pieces together with a few dots of hot glue.
- Then, make the bee’s stripes by wrapping black yarn around the bee’s body. Secure the ends of the yarn with a dot of glue.
- Next, cut out wings from construction paper, card stock, newspaper, or old book pages. I cut out a small heart for the wings. Glue the wings into place.
- Finally, cut a black bread tie (or black pipe cleaner) into two pieces for the bee’s antennas. Glue the antennas and eyes into place.
* Tip: If your kids plan on playing with the egg carton bees, I recommend using hot glue to secure all the bee’s features. If the bee is just for looks, then liquid glue will work perfectly.
11. Recycled Can Planter – Hand Print Bee Crafts For Kids
I love kids’ handprint crafts. They always melt my heart. All you need for this craft is a recycled can, preferably a large can (28 ounces), acrylic paint, and a precious little hand. Little kids will love painting the scenery and of course, getting messy with paint. Paint their hands and stamp their hands onto the can. Then, draw with black paint an outline of a bee and its features. Finally, allow the kids to add some fun details like flowers, grass, and a blue sky. Don’t forget to drill holes in the bottom of the can for your soil to drain.
